Putting Kids First!
As the mom of a recent graduate and two students currently in Saline Area schools, it's important to me that the children of this community receive an exceptional and well-rounded education.
As a pediatrician of 20+ years, I care for infants, children, teens, and young adults. I work collaboratively with children and their families to provide the best care possible. I listen carefully to concerns, act with sensitivity to solve problems, and advocate for their well-being. These are the unique skills I will bring to the Saline School Board.
All students and their families deserve a sensible, kind, experienced, and responsive leader in their corner. These days our children are facing immense challenges to their mental, physical, and emotional health that impact their ability to learn. With the experienced leadership, and by working together, we can ensure that every Saline student has the opportunity to achieve their full potential!
MY PRIORITIES
"There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats its children." – Nelson Mandela
As a pediatrician, I will prioritize a safe learning environment for our children. We must put the physical, mental, and emotional health of our children at the forefront. Kids need security, stability, and sensible approaches to their education in order to learn well. I will always make decisions with their best interests as my first concern.
"Education is for improving the lives of others and for leaving your community and the world better than you found it."
– Marian Wright Edelman
I will always prioritize excellence in education. The last few years have been extremely difficult for our students, educators, staff, and families. We need to make sure that our children have the resources they need to succeed. As an avid reader and mom, I value literacy and understand the power of raising happy readers. They deserve an education that prepares them to be productive citizens in a rapidly changing world. Whether their next steps be employment, vocational school, college, or adventure, I want them to leave Saline Schools ready to achieve their full potential.
"Intelligence plus character is the goal of true education." – Martin Luther King Jr.
Respect and Integrity - I value expertise. I value families. Most of all, I value children. I will always treat our children, families, and expert educators with respect. We may not always agree on WHAT is best for our children, but we should start with the premise that we all WANT the very best for our children. I pledge to listen to the concerns of everyone in the community, to be forthright, and transparent.
"You will either step forward into growth, or you will step backward into safety." – Abraham Maslow
The Future - I am excited by the strides our community has made. We have improved upon our financial reserves and must continue to be fiscally responsible in order to maximize the resources we can offer our students. We have succeeded in returning our children to the classroom. We continue to challenge our students academically, on the field, and in their extracurriculars. We must continue to provide a school system that is future-focused, welcoming of a diverse community of families and staff, and highly prepared to educate well-rounded, empathetic students who will be leaders in the 21st century.
